Emergency Editor was launched by veteran editors Elizabeth MacBride and Elaine Pofeldt in 2014, in response to growing demand from clients for last-minute editing and writing help. Many companies operate with very lean teams today and need outside help to complete editorial projects when their staffers are busy with other work or last-minute projects that extend into the evenings or weekends. They need editors who can polish their reports, white papers, blog posts, presentations and other published material on very short notice, so they can meet their deadlines.
Elizabeth and Elaine have both worked as staff editors at major business publications and frequently collaborate on journalism projects.
Elizabeth, based in the Washington, D.C. area, writes frequently about personal finance, investing, entrepreneurship and the economy. Her work has appeared in BBC Capital, CNBC, Crain's New York Business, HBR.com, AARP Life Reimagined, Advertising Age, Newsweek and many other publications.
Elaine specializes in writing about entrepreneurship and careers. A former senior editor at Fortune Small Business magazine, she also ran the magazine's website, building it to 2 million to 5 million page views a month. Based near New York City, she has contributed to CNBC, Money magazine, FORTUNE magazine, Crain's New York Business, Forbes, AARP Life Reimagined, Marie Claire, Good Housekeeping, Dr. Oz magazine and a variety of other publications.
